Oceanside CA— On Friday night, May 20, 2016, at approximately 8:21 p.m., the Oceanside Fire Department responded to North Avenue (West of Temple Heights Drive) for a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, units found two-vehicles involved in a head-on collision with both vehicles on fire and five injured persons outside of the vehicles.
An unidentified Good Samaritan is credited with pulling two people out of one of the burning vehicles.
Oceanside Engine 2114 extinguished the fire while keeping it from spreading to the adjacent homes on Rose Drive. Shortly thereafter, Oceanside Engine 2113 arrived and managed the emergency medical component of the incident.
The first ambulance to arrive was Oceanside’s newest ambulance, Medic 2193, and they began treating the injured persons; two injured persons were air-lifted to a trauma center with serious injuries.
Additional resources responded from the Vista and Carlsbad Fire Departments to assist with providing medical treatment for the injured persons.
The cause of the vehicle accident is being investigated by the Oceanside Police Department.
