Oceanside CA— A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 12 for OHS teacher and assistant football coach, Pulu Poumele who passed away suddenly on June 4th after playing a basketball game with friends.
A 1990 graduate of Oceanside High School, Pulu attended the University of Arizona and went on to play in the NFL and CFL. Pulu was signed as a un-drafted free agent and played offensive lineman for two seasons with the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens, one with the San Diego Chargers and two with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League.
Pulu is survived by his wife, Santa Margarita Elementary School Principal, Dr. Jessica Poumele and their five children, one of which he saw graduate from his alma mater, last Thursday, at the amphitheater named in honor of Pulu’s cousin, Junior Seau.
The Celebration of Pulu’s life will take place June 12, 2016 at the Calvary Chapel, 3712 Oceanic Way, 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the same chapel on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00am to be followed by internment at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1990 South El Camino Real
