Encinitas CA— On Friday, July 8, 2016, North Coastal Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to reports of a subject driving recklessly at a very high rate of speed in the Home Depot parking lot at 1001 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas. Before deputies arrived, witnesses reported the subject had attacked a Home Depot employee with a knife.
The subject had thrown a folding blade knife at an employee who was watering plants outside the garden center portion of the store. The knife entered the employee’s leg causing a minor wound with bleeding.
An off-duty paramedic was on scene and provided medical aid to the victim.
Responding deputies contacted the suspect inside the store at gunpoint where he was taken into custody.
The victim was treated and released from Scripps La Jolla with a minor wound to his upper leg.
The suspect, Sean Burton (10-31-81) was charged with 245(a)(1) PC (assault with a deadly weapon) and transported to Vista Detention Facility.
