Carlsbad CA— This morning,  August 14, at 7:33 a.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to a call of a dog bite in the 3500 block of Roosevelt Street.  The reporting party stated that he was riding his bicycle in the area and a Pit Bull chased him and bit him on the foot.
Officers arrived at 7:38 a.m. and found the victim bleeding from a wound to his foot. The injury did not require medical attention. Officers located and cornered the dog in the driveway of a home.
Officers used an abundance of restraint when the animal charged at them. They called for animal control Officers and initially used pepper spray to keep the animal cornered in the driveway.
Officers were eventually forced to shoot the dog one time with a less lethal, bean bag round when it attempted to attack them. The dog received minor injuries.
An Officer with the Department of Animal Control arrived and took custody of the dog using a capture pole.
