San Marcos CA— A small brush fire is burning west of Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road near the Lawrence Welk Resort in unincorporated San Marcos. At this time, CAL FIRE says only two homes are threatened. Sheriff’s Deputies have notified these residents about the fire.
The fire is currently 0% contained and has burned approximately 25 acres.
According to the CHP, southbound Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road was closed down as firefighters work to put out the flames. The two left lanes have since been re-opened and firefighters expect to be on the scene for the next 24 hours.
