Oceanside CA— On Wednesday, September 21st, at approximately 12:58 pm, officers responded to the Holiday Inn at 1401 Carmelo Dr. where cleaning staff located counterfeit ID card’s left in a room by a guest. Officers determined the same guest left the room the previous night due to a maintenance problem and rented another room in the same hotel.
The suspects were seen leaving the hotel as officers arrived. Property crimes detectives responded and obtained a search warrant for the room.
While officers were waiting for the search warrant, the suspects, William Redwine and Natalie Payne, returned and were detained by officers for further investigation.
The search warrant revealed further evidence of an ongoing counterfeit operation, and evidence of heroin and methamphetamine use.
A victim was contacted in LA County and it was learned he and his company have been victims of an ongoing identity theft resulting in a loss of over $40,000. LAPD has been working the case. There are possibly multiple other victims that will need to be followed up on.
William Dexter Redwine, DOB 2-27-1966 of Carson, CA was arrested for; PC 530.5(a) – Identity Theft and Natalie Payne, DOB 6-10-1984, also of Carson was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant. The two were booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
