Carlsbad CA— Today, September 7, 2016 investigators from the City of Carlsbad Police Department arrested two men, 22-year-old Daniel Martinez and 20-year-old Jose Agundez, both of Escondido, in association with the assault that occurred outside the Pizza Port Restaurant on August 24.
Martinez was arrested in Escondido and Agundez was arrested in La Jolla. The two were arrested for Assault with a Weapon and Assault with Great Bodily Injury. Both men were booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
After investigation, detectives found the victim was an employee of the Pizza Port Restaurant and was working as a security guard. The victim had interacted with the men earlier in the evening and had asked the men to leave the restaurant. The assault occurred outside the restaurant when the men created a disturbance with another restaurant patron and the victim intervened.
On August 25, the Carlsbad Police Department requested the community’s assistance to help identify suspects in the altercation. [Original story here]
