Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Fire Chief. Chief Richard Robinson will be officially sworn into the position at the City Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Robinson has served most recently as Oceanside’s Interim Fire Chief since June 6, 2016. Chief Robinson was selected from an extremely qualified field of applicants generated through a nationwide search.
With over three decades of multi-faceted Fire experience, Chief Robinson served as the Fire Chief under the Orange County Fire Authority structure, for the cities of San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano and Mission Viejo. Contributing to Chief Robinson’s qualifications is his educational background. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Technical Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
As Fire Chief, Robinson will oversee a department with a 90-year history and staff of 126 employees who are dedicated to providing services to the residents of Oceanside including emergency medical response, fire suppression, rescue emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, lifeguard services, and more. The department also provides public education in fire prevention and emergency preparedness for local residents and businesses.
Chief Robinson has been an Oceanside resident for over twenty years and is active in a number of community efforts.

Robinson’s annual salary will be $191,000.
