SDSO+Patrol+car

Escondido CA— Friday morning, October 7, 2016, just before 8:30 a.m. conservation workers found a human skull in the heavy brush, near the shoreline of Lake Hodges, in the 19000 block of Lake Drive. Deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station responded to the location and secured the scene. Sheriff’s homicide detectives responded and assumed the primary investigative responsibility.
Detectives suspect the remains found today may belong to a missing person, whose partial remains were found nearby in October of 2015. Those remains were identified as belonging to San Diego resident Marisol Lopez, age 30. In 2015 the Medical Examiner’s Office was unable to determine the cause or manner of death. The Medical Examiner’s Office will examine the remains found today and try to determine the identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Detail at (858) 974-2321/after hours at (858) 565-5200. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 and be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
