Vista CA— On Friday afternoon around 5:00, Vista Deputies received a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run in the Albertson’s parking lot at 1301 E. Vista Way in the City of Vista. The pedestrian complained of pain to his shoulder and hips and was transported to Tri-City Hospital. While investigating that collision, two other hit-and-run calls came out within five minutes in the same general area. These calls included another vehicle versus pedestrian and a vehicle versus vehicle collision. All three incidents involved a white SUV as a possible suspect vehicle. The pedestrian victim in the second collision was transported by Life Flight to Palomar Medical Center with significant head and leg injuries.
Deputies responded to a vehicle hit-and-run at 867 Arcadia Avenue. While investigating the crime, information was developed that a 26-year-old Vista man, Michael Dorman, likely caused the accident. Dorman was known to be driving a white Ford Explorer.
Moments later, another hit-and-run collision was reported at 500 Hacienda Drive in Vista, where two pedestrians were hit by a white SUV. Witnesses advised the white male driver intentionally swerved to hit the pedestrians. Both pedestrian victims were transported to Palomar Medical Center for complaints of pain and minor injuries. Another vehicle was reported to be intentionally sideswiped by Dorman, on Vista Village Drive, while he was driving at a high rate of speed.
Deputies attempted to contact Dorman in the area of Anza Drive and Ishihara Road, in Vista, but he fled at a high rate of speed and Deputies initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit lasted approximately 15 minutes through Vista and Oceanside. Dorman hit at least two vehicles and a tree during the pursuit in an attempt to evade capture. Deputies were finally able to detain Michael Dorman at 5:39pm at 4730 Driftwood Way in Oceanside. Dorman was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on the related charges.
