Oceanside Teen Shot Multiple Times

Oceanside CA— Oceanside Police Detectives are on the scene of a shooting where the victim, identified as a 19-year-old Hispanic male by Oceanside Police, was hit several times. The incident took place approximately 10:40am inside the gated Dylan Apartment complex in the 500 block of Los Arbolitos Blvd, in Oceanside.
Oceanside Police rendered aid to the victim, who was conscious, before Oceanside Fire Department Paramedics took over. The teen was airlifted to Scripps La Jolla for treatment. “We are still waiting to hear from the hospital on whether his injuries are life threatening or not.” said Kathleen Vincent with the Oceanside Police Department.

Several female witnesses, who didn’t want to be identified, stated they heard four or five shots before multiple suspects, two possibly Hispanic males, took off in either a white Ford Mustang or Dodge Charger. “He was already hit and was on the ground when they shot him again,” said one of the witnesses.
“I was returning from work and just getting out my car in the parking lot when I heard the shots,” said Jeff Mackey who has lived in the complex for the past two years.” I heard three or four shots, then a gap before another shot. I went running over there but I didn’t see the shooters. His mom came out and started saying that’s my son. I stepped in the blood and didn’t really grasp what was going on until the police came, running full speed. He was talking to the police as he was laying there,” continued Jeff, “Nothing like this has happened here before. There was a stabbing last year but never a shooting. This is a safe place with gates all over the place and security comes through here all of the time. Seeing the look on the mom’s face, she just looked destroyed.”
Mr. Mackey said the victim lives in the complex with his mother and several younger sisters. “If anything comes out of this, I just hope kids stay out of gangs, being a teen and getting hit, gang style, it’s just ridiculous.”
Police searched for the suspect vehicle with the help of the San Diego Count Sheriff Department’s ASTREA helicopter. The victim’s identity and condition are being withheld at this time.
