Carlsbad CA— Last night, Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 8:20 pm, the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Grand Ave. and Jefferson St.
Officers arrived and discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle while apparently crossing the street in the crosswalk. Officers conducted an investigation and arrested the driver of the truck for causing injury while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The injured party was transported to the hospital by the Carlsbad Fire Department with a serious head injury.
The driver is identified as a 41-year-old Chad Gibson of Carlsbad. Gibson was booked at the Vista Detention Facility.
