Woman Struck and Killed While Standing on Railroad Tracks in Carlsbad

Carlsbad CA— For the second time in four days, a woman dies after being struck by a train in North County. This afternoon, April 3, 2017, just before 2:00pm, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a Coaster Train vs. pedestrian collision.
The collision occurred on the railroad tracks just north of Tamarack Avenue in the city of Carlsbad. A northbound Coaster Train was traveling approximately 90 miles per hour when the train operator observed a female pedestrian standing on the tracks. The train went into emergency braking but was unable to stop in time and fatally struck the female.
