Carlsbad CA— Last night, August 5, 2017 at 9:10 p.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to the intersection of Carlsbad Village Drive and Jefferson Street regarding a report of a vehicle that collided with a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, Officers found a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with moderate damage to the hood. Officers also found a 30-year-old white female, who sustained head injuries, laying in the traffic lanes of Carlsbad Village Drive. The Carlsbad Fire Department provided advanced life support to the pedestrian. She was subsequently transported to an area hospital for her injuries.
An initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the street against a red light. The pedestrian was traveling north through the intersection when the driver of the vehicle, who was traveling east, collided with the pedestrian. The severity of the pedestrian’s injuries are unknown at this time.
The Carlsbad Police Department Traffic Division responded to the scene to conduct a full investigation into the cause of the collision.
