MiraCosta College Students, Manufacturers, and Job Seekers to Celebrate National Manufacturing Day

Carlsbad CA— MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute (TCI) celebrates all that is made in San Diego by hosting an open house and resource fair on National Manufacturing Day, Wednesday, October 4, at its Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. National Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing. It is a chance for students, educators, civic leaders and the media to learn about the economic and employment opportunities that manufacturers provide.
“National Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity to showcase the industry-directed training we offer using state-of-the-art equipment,” said Linda Kurokawa, director of community education and workforce development at MiraCosta College. “We have worked diligently to build strong industry partnerships, engage in onsite recruitments, offer job placement, and receive valuable feedback from industry leaders that allow us to enhance our curriculum.”
Manufacturing is a critical part of making San Diego’s North County one of the most robust economies in California, according to Mike Cully, chief executive officer of the San Diego North Economic Development Council.
“One of the key drivers of the success of our region and of the manufacturing segment is the unique collaboration between industry leaders and higher education,” said Cully. “This agile partnership will deliver a strong, relevant workforce to meet the needs of a growing industry.”
Agenda for the MiraCosta Technology Career Institute National Manufacturers Day events, all open to the public:
1:30–2:30 p.m. Manufacturers Networking Hour
Open to anyone in the manufacturing industry who wants to network with other industry leaders, experts and colleagues.
2:30–4:30 p.m. North County Resource Fair
Open to the public, the North County Resource Fair allows for companies to showcase their work and what manufacturing is and is not. Manufactures will begin to address the skilled labor shortage, connect with future employees, and start to address the overall perception of manufacturing as an industry.
5:00–7:00 p.m. Third Annual Open House
Learn about training opportunities and take guided tours of the Technology Career Institutes’ engineering, technician and machinist labs and facilities. The open house is co-sponsored by the MiraCosta College Foundation and will include light appetizers, refreshments and desserts. Additional tours will be offered throughout the week of October 2–6.
If you are a company interested in showcasing your work, please reserve your space in advance. For more information, call 760.795.6876.
