Beach Hazards Statement Continues through Weekend

Excessive Heat Watch for Monday and Tuesday

San Diego County CA— A beach hazards statement has been issued for north San Diego County along with Orange County coastal areas effective today through Sunday evening. Surf of 3′ to 6′ with building rip currents.
A Beach Hazards Statement indicates an increased risk for swimmers, surfers. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can wash people off beaches, jetties, rocks and capsize small boats near shore.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don’t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shoreline and call or wave for help.
Obey posted warning signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use caution when in or near the water and always swim near a lifeguard.

Excessive Heat Watch

An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Monday and Tuesday in coastal and valley areas of San Diego, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Offshore winds and strong high pressure aloft will develop this weekend and bring a strong warming trend. On Monday and Tuesday, temperatures at many locations west of the mountains will exceed 100 degrees.
Not as hot weather is expected Wednesday and beyond.
