Oceanside CA— Tuesday night, April 24, 2018, at approximately 7:57 p.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to an Amtrak train collision with a pedestrian. The collision occurred on the railroad track near the intersection of N. Cleveland Street and Surfrider Way, in the city of Oceanside.
A northbound Amtrak train was traveling at approximately 35 miles per hour when an unidentified adult male ran towards the tracks and dove in front of the train. The train was unable to stop before subsequently striking the male.
The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
