200 miles of bikeway added to updated bike map
San Diego County CA— SANDAG released a new version of its free San Diego Region Bike Map on Friday, delineating an additional 200 miles of bikeway since its last update in 2015.
The new bike map features more than 1,500 miles of bikeway throughout the San Diego region.
An interactive digital version of the bike map is available online at iCommuteSD.com/BikeMap. The map gives users a bird’s eye view of the available bikeways including steep routes, transit connections, and more than 60 bike locker locations available to bike commuters throughout the region.
Over the next few weeks, the SANDAG iCommute team will distribute maps to San Diego area bike shops and other bike groups. Maps are also available by mail. Contact iCommute@sandag.org for more information.
The map comes just in time for the thousands of bike riders who will be taking to the pedals to GO by BIKE throughout the San Diego region for Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 17.
Registered Bike to Work Day participants will be greeted by volunteers at 100 pit stops in the region, where they will receive a free t-shirt, refreshments, snacks, and encouragement. Various stops will offer extra incentives such as free bike repairs, bike tune-ups, and breakfast. To register, visit iCommuteSD.com.
