Carlsbad CA– On Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 1:24p.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to the area of La Costa Avenue, west of Saxony Road regarding a report of a vehicle that collided with a waste water valve and was upside down. Upon arrival, Officers discovered the vehicle had indeed collided with a waste water valve, which caused waste water to be released into the westbound lanes of La Costa Avenue for several minutes before being shut off.
Emergency Personnel observed the driver, a 30-year-old male from Carlsbad, inside the vehicle and helped free him.
Carlsbad Fire Department transported the driver to the hospital with minor injuries. Westbound La Costa Avenue between El Camino Real and Interstate 5 was closed for approximately three hours so personnel could clean up the waste water that was spilled onto the roadway.
