Oceanside CA— Late Thursday night, September 27, 2018 at 11:35pm, units from the Oceanside Fire Department responded to 3303 Carolyn Circle for multiple reports of a residential fire with heavy smoke coming from the garage.
E217 and RA 217 arrived first approximately 5 minutes from being dispatched and found smoke and fire coming from the garage of a single story residence. It appeared that fire had not extended into the house from the garage fire, so both E217 and RA217 stretched attack lines. E211 arrived shortly after and helped to gain access inside the house to perform a search and verify no one was home. Once inside the residence crews were faced with heavy smoke conditions from the fire which extended into the kitchen area causing inside conditions to be difficult.
Additional crews arrived to support the first arriving units in an offensive strategy to contain the fire, protect exposures and prevent further spread of the fire and minimized further damage. The incident was brought under control approximately 21 minutes after the first units arrived at the scene.
No victims were found at the scene and the investigation is being completed by Oceanside Fire Department to find out what happened.
Oceanside PD was brought in to further investigate a suspicious growing operation found inside the house. The occupant, who happens to be a renter, has not been located.
The Carlsbad Fire Department assisted in the incident and total damage has yet to be determined due to the unforeseen damage to various contents being stored on site.
