2019 San Diego County Fair Dates, Theme and Concerts Announced

2019+San+Diego+County+Fair++Dates%2C+Theme+and+Concerts+Announced

Del Mar CA— Next summer the 2019 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|Vons, will invite guests to skip down the yellow brick road and step into an “Oz-some” world inspired by L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
The dates, theme and logo for the 2019 San Diego County Fair were unanimously approved today at the monthly 22nd District Agricultural Association Board of Directors meeting, held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Opening on Friday, May 31 at 4 p.m., running through Thursday, July 4, 2019 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in June), the San Diego County Fair promises to be “Oz-some!
Deputy General Manager of Fairtime Operations, Katie Mueller, explains, “The Fair’s theme is quite special to San Diegans, because Oz author L. Frank Baum is thought to have found inspiration for at least 3 of his 14 Oz books during his extended stays in Coronado. Though most people know Oz only through the famous movie, the Fair has chosen to bring the books to life, including a few differences that will be a surprise to most. For instance, Dorothy’s famous slippers are silver, not ruby.”
Visitors will journey to the Emerald City, meeting magical new friends along the way. Channel your inner courage in the whirlwind of carnival rides. Expand your brain by immersing yourself in creative and educational exhibits. Warm your heart creating new memories with your friends and family. With all of the adventures you’ll encounter, you’ll discover, “There’s no place like the Fair.”
