Vista CA— Today, November 16, 2018, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit arrested a 14-year-old juvenile from Vista, CA, for the murder of twenty-year-old Jonathan Ruiz, also of Vista. He was booked into custody at the Kearney Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility.
During the investigation, one of the suspects was identified as nineteen-year-old Issac Martinez of Oceanside, CA. On November 13th, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit arrested Issac Martinez for murder. He is being held without bail at the San Diego Central Jail. There are no additional outstanding suspects for this case.
Just before 2:30 p.m. on November 4, 2018, Vista Sheriff’s Station Deputies responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls of a shooting in the area of the Vista Transit Center at 101 Vista Village Drive, in Vista. When deputies arrived moments later they discovered a male victim, identified as twenty-year-old Jonathan Ruiz of Vista, lying on a dirt path between the Transit Center and the area of 200 Olive Avenue. Ruiz was seriously injured, the result of an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies and Vista Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid and the man was transported to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly before 3:00 p.m. at the hospital.
