Carlsbad CA— This afternoon, August 12, at 3:59 the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a call about a possible shooting that occurred in the 2700 block of Via Juanita. It was further reported that witnesses heard a popping sound and found one male in the alley with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

On arrival, officers found an 18-year-old male who reported he had been shot following a meeting with another male.
The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.
The Fire Department transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers searched the area, interviewed numerous witnesses, collected evidence and are actively working to locate the suspect.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
