Oceanside CA— Just before 1:15pm Saturday, October 19. 2019, Oceanside fire units responded to a reported vegetation fire behind 1921 Willowbrook Drive in Oceanside. Upon arrival, OFD Engine 216 found a ¼ acre vegetation fire with a moderate rate of spread in light fuels.
OFD Engine 216 extended a progressive hose lay cutting off the left flank of the fire while OFD Brush125 was able to pump and roll the advancing flank of the fire. Brush 125, with assistance from Brush122, was able to halt forward progress of the vegetation fire.
Members of the County Parks and Recreation division were able to assist units with quick access to the front of the fire, which ultimately kept the overall size of the fire to under two acres. Knockdown of the fire was achieved by 13:53, with crews staying on scene for an additional couple of hours for overhaul.
There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters on this incident. The fire was started by sparks from a downed SDG&E power line. The power line was downed due to accidental circumstances.
