The Seven-Member Committee Provides Accountability and Makes Recommendations for the TransNet Program

San Diego County CA— The SANDAG TransNet Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee (ITOC) is seeking qualified members of the public to fill two vacancies on its seven-member committee. The ITOC provides an enhanced level of accountability for the TransNet program, the San Diego region’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements administered by SANDAG.
The current vacancies are as follows:

• Chief Executive Officer, or person in an equivalent senior-level decision making position of a major private sector employer with demonstrated experience in leading a large organization
• Licensed engineer with credentials in the field of transportation project design or construction, and a minimum of ten years of experience in a relevant and senior decision-making position in the government or private sector

ITOC membership is open to individuals throughout the region who possess a set of appropriate professional skills and experience. ITOC members are unpaid, but certain expenses are reimbursed. Due to their public service status, ITOC members must meet strict conflict of interest standards.
The ITOC functions in an independent, open, and transparent manner to ensure that all voter mandates are carried out. The committee is responsible for the development of a positive, constructive space where recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the financial integrity and performance of the TransNet program can be made.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, February 14, 2020.
The newly selected Chief Executive Officer member is anticipated to begin serving at the regularly scheduled ITOC meeting in April 2020, with the Licensed Engineer member anticipated to begin June 2020.
