Vista CA— On Tuesday. February 25, 2020 at approximately 4:48pm, deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle along the 1000 block of Mar Vista Drive in Vista.
Upon arriving, deputies learned a 12-year-old male juvenile had been struck by one vehicle which fled the scene. The juvenile was transported via Air Ambulance to Rady Children’s Hospital for injuries to his right leg and abrasions to his face.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:30pm, deputies responded to the 3500 block of Windrift Way in the city of Oceanside to follow up on a tip provided by a citizen through the Crime Stoppers hotline. While checking the area, deputies located a 2016 white Toyota Corolla with consistent damage.
Deputies contacted the registered owner of the Corolla who provided a statement. It was determined that person was the driver of the Corolla at the time of the collision.
The driver was arrested for felony hit and run and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. The identity of the driver has not been released.
There is no update on the condition of the 12-year-old victim in this incident.
