Oceanside CA— This morning, Sunday February 16, 2020 at 9:45, Oceanside Fire Department Units responded to a reported structure fire at the Rosewood Kitchen located 608 Mission Ave in downtown Oceanside.
Oceanside Engine 211 (E211) arrived on scene three minutes after dispatch and found the business fully charged with smoke to the floor. E211 crew entered through the front door and made their way toward the back of the business. Although the restaurant was filled with smoke, there was little heat in the building. Subsequent engines arrived on scene and checked the adjacent businesses for fire extension. Fortunately, the fire was contained to 608 Mission. Truck 217 went to the roof to inspect and prepare for the potential that the fire had gotten into the attic space.
E211 personnel eventually found the seat of the fire at the wall between the kitchen and the bar. The fire was held in check by a water line connected to the commercial espresso machine.
Once the fire was fully extinguished and the building was ventilated the fire crews were able to determine that there was no extension beyond the source. An Oceanside Investigator was on scene conducting a thorough investigation into the actual cause of the fire.
Fire crews remained on scene to ventilate the structure completely and removed the bulk of the water from the business. SDG&E was also on scene assisting in restoring both gas and electric to the adjacent businesses.
No firefighters or civilians were injured.
