Carlsbad CA— Saturday night, March 7th at 8:36 p.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to El Camino Real north of Jackspar Drive for a report of a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located a Toyota Prius that had collided into a tree and one male who identified himself as the driver.

Preliminary reports advise that the male driving the Prius in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real north of Jackspar Drive, had struck a large tree branch that had fallen into the lanes of traffic and lost control of his vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as a 39-year-old male out of Carlsbad. The male was transported to a local area hospital for severe injuries. The investigation is ongoing. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the collision.
