Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside is closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and City leaders are unified and committed to helping stop the spread of this virus through sensible actions. We are working to ensure that critical municipal services continue to operate, and that we are providing for the health and safety of our staff. Together, we can take measures to help protect our resilient community.
Ban on Gatherings
On March 12, Governor Newsom announced a ban on large gatherings and a policy on smaller gatherings and social distancing to reduce the number of Californians who contract COVID-19 before an effective treatment or vaccine is available.[POLICY] These measures will help protect those most likely to experience severe symptoms, such as older people and those with underlying chronic conditions. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6ft) or through respiratory droplets produced when someone coughs or sneezes.
New Protocols for Bars / Restaurants
On March 15, 2020, Governor Newsom announced additional protocols to stop the spread of the virus in our communities. These include home isolation for seniors 65+, the closure of bars, nightclubs, and wineries, and limiting restaurant capacities to 50% to facilitate social distancing.
