Carlsbad CA— Early this morning, March 10, 2020 the City of Carlsbad Police Department received two calls for service to the same address in the 900 block of Tide Court. The first at 3:04 a.m. Officers responded to a report of drugs and a party at the Tide Court address.
The second call came in at 3:47 a.m., while officers were outside the address. A delayed call for service reporting the sound of gunshots fired at the same address.
Arriving officers entered, cleared the residence and found what looked to be bullet holes in the walls of the unit.
Further investigation found a 33-year-old Hispanic male had been dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
At 9:56 a.m this morning, a suspect was taken into custody in Banning, California. He has been identified as 26-year-old (corrected from 36- years-old from original press release) Malique Travon Campbell from Banning. Campbell was arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault with a Firearm, Use of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and a probation violation. Campbell was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 760-931-2197.
