Oceanside CA— On June 30, 2020 just before 10:00pm, the Oceanside Fire Department and Lifeguard Division was dispatched to an Ocean Rescue in the Oceanside Harbor entrance. It was reported that a 12-foot vessel had capsized in the harbor entrance with unknown persons aboard.
Oceanside Police responded on patrol vessel for search of area. Elevated surf with breaking waves in the south end of the harbor entrance and night conditions posed an increased risk to rescuers during the search operation. Lifeguard units located a victim on the rock jetty. The victim suffered from lacerations and water aspiration.
Fire and Lifeguard personnel extricated the victim off the rock jetty and transported him by ambulance to a trauma center.
Oceanside Police were able to locate the capsized vessel and towed it to a secure dock. No injuries to rescue personnel.
