Encinitas CA— Reece Jensen, an Encinitas resident and son of a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, completed a powerful 5K on Moonlight Beach, Saturday, to support injured veterans and their families through Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP).
The event was Reece’s virtual version of WWP’s Carry Forward® 5K, delivered by CSX®. The 5K drew more than 1,400 supporters to Liberty Station last year and was originally scheduled for this morning at the same location. But due to safety reasons in connection with COVID-19, the event shifted to a virtual setting.
Participants can now host their own 5K whenever and wherever is safest for them. Reece is one of nearly 800 participants in California who have either signed up and/or completed their own virtual Carry Forward this year.
Money raised from registration and donations supports the life-changing programs and services Wounded Warrior Project offers injured veterans and their families.
