Oceanside CA— Last night, Friday September 25, 2020 just before 9:30pm, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a serious injury collision involving two vehicles on N. River Rd. just east of Stallion.
Officers and Paramedics arrived to find a 17-year-old male, who was ejected from his vehicle, (Toyota 4 runner) on the ground, unconscious, with a severe head injury. The teen was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Officers on scene located the other vehicle, a Ford F150 pick-up, and the 33-year-old driver at the scene who was uninjured.
Based on the physical evidence at the scene, it appears the Ford was traveling westbound on N. River Rd, crossed over the double yellow line and collided with the Toyota which was traveling eastbound on N. River Rd. The Toyota lost control and rolled off the road ejecting the driver. The Ford also lost control and ran off the road into a dirt field.
The driver of the Ford, Jose Orozco of Vista, was evaluated at the scene for DUI Drugs and was ultimately arrested for Felony DUI with injury. He was later booked into county jail.
The investigation is ongoing. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Accident Investigator Clint Bussey at (760) 435-4412.
