San Diego CA— On September 8, 2020, the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) proposed placement of SVP Joshua Cooley at 15077 Adams Drive, Pauma Valley, CA. 92061. Selection of the proposed placement location is the sole responsibility of DSH and the Humboldt Superior Court. Pursuant to Welfare & Institutions Code section 6609.1, the public is permitted to comment on the proposed location before it is finalized by the Court.
Pauma Valley, California, is an unincorporated community in the north inland area of San Diego County. Per the United States Census Bureau, the estimated population of Pauma Valley was 7,499 in 2018. The property of interest is located within the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s jurisdiction, particularly the area patrolled by deputies assigned to the Valley Center Sheriff’s Substation.
With the court hearing scheduled for October 9, 2020, the SAFE Task Force will be accepting public comments about the proposed placement to be included in the formal response to the court.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department, San Diego District Attorney’s Office and SAFE Task Force are not responsible for the selection of the proposed site. The selection process is the sole responsibility of the Department of State Hospitals and Humboldt Superior Court.
