Thirty People Cited, One Driver Arrested During Oceanside Bicycle, Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation

Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Police Department issued 30 citations for a variety of violations made by bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers during a bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement operation on September 23, 2020.
The operation took place in the City of Oceanside from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. A total of 37 people was contacted during the operation.
One bicyclist was cited for CVC 22450(a) failing to stop at a stop sign. In addition, two pedestrians were cited for CVC 21955, Jaywalking and six others were given a warning for various violations. Twenty-Seven drivers were cited for violations including CVC 22350, unsafe speed, CVC 22107 unsafe turning movement, and CVC 12500(a) driving without a license. One driver was arrested on a felony warrant.
“We are in an unprecedent time, but even during a pandemic, the safety of road users remains a top priority,” Oceanside Police Sergeant Rick Davis said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to practice safe biking, driving and walking behaviors when they are out.”
Due to COVID-19, we ask the public to follow direction from public health officials and practice physical distancing when feasible by staying at least six feed away from others.
