Vista CA— A man is in custody on suspicion of setting a car on fire in the North County. It happened on Tuesday, November 17th just after 10:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of E. Vista Way in Vista.
Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station were responding to a report of a car fire. On their way to the scene, a witness reported seeing a man, who appeared to be homeless, walk by the car, break a window and start the fire.
When deputies arrived, they found a man who matched the suspect’s description. He had a lighter in one hand and a pipe used to smoke illegal drugs in the other.
A witness identified the suspect in a curbside lineup and he was arrested. The Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit is investigating the incident.
Jose Garcia (9/20/1975) was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of arson and possession of illegal drugs.
