Oceanside CA— Just after 1:00pm this afternoon, February 3, 2021, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to a structure fire near the back gate of Camp Pendleton on Arthur Ave.

Engine 215 (E215) arrived seven minutes after dispatch and encountered a fully involved attached garage. E215 secured water from a hydrant and pulled hose lines to the garage. A quick search of the living area of the home was conducted and was found to be clear of all residents. Fire had not breached the walls from the garage.
E215 was quickly backed up by other Oceanside Fire Department crews, who pulled additional hose lines and Truck 217 went to the roof and checked for attic involvement. Fortunately, the main damage from the fire was contained to the garage with some smoke and water damage to the bedroom adjacent to the garage.

Four adult residents were displaced and Red Cross was activated to assist with temporary shelter. The fire was deemed under control and out approximately 25 minutes after E215 initially arrived on scene.
The fire caused an SDG&E transformer to blow a fuse and several homes in the neighborhood were without power at the time of this release. SDG&E officials stated it would be restored within a few hours.
One civilian suffered minor burn injuries and was treated and released on scene by Oceanside Firefighter/Paramedics and EMTs.
No firefighters were injured. The cause is currently under investigation.
