Oceanside CA— Early this morning, May 18, 2021, Oceanside Fire Department units responded to a reported structure fire on Juaneno Ave.
Engine 215 (E215) arrived on scene six minutes after initial dispatch and reported a working garage fire. E215 quickly pulled a hose line to begin extinguishing the fire. E216 arrived within a minute after E215 and pulled a second hose line to the interior of the house. The quick action of the personnel contained the fire to the garage and prevented any extension to the living space of the home.
The garage was extremely full of belongings, including a vehicle, which forced the crews to perform extensive overhaul to ensure all the hot spots had been extinguished prior to their departure. The fire was contained within 16 minutes of dispatch and crews remained on scene to overhaul for two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Oceanside Fire Department investigators. Three adults were displaced from the home but Red Cross was not needed; the residents had local family to assist. No civilians were injured. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
