Oceanside CA— Oceanside resident Foley Parker, whose dedication to country and community has earned him recognition in the national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign. The campaign honors veterans who continue to serve in their community after active duty.

A Marine veteran who served in Vietnam, Parker found himself experiencing homelessness and forced to eat out of garbage cans. He promised himself if he managed to get out of his situation, he would dedicate his life to helping other veterans and the needy. He founded Holiness Ministries Coalition, a nonprofit designed to fight hunger and provide youth drug and gang prevention education in San Diego County. Parker formed a support network working collaboratively with churches, individuals, agencies and organizations to bring together all sectors of the community to foster safe and drug-free environments and end hunger through its programs H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Excel), Feed the Need and Lamb of God Food Bank.
Parker’s dedicated service to the military and his community led him to be chosen as one of the few VFW #StillServing Heroes nationwide.
