Oceanside CA—One individual was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and 23 drivers were cited for either driving on a suspended license or driving without a license, while conducting a DUI checkpoint on May14, 2021.
The checkpoint was held in the 3400 block of Oceanside Blvd from 7 PM till 11:30 PM. A total of 1361 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern.
The Oceanside Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on July 16, 2021.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
