UPDATE June 8, 2021- 11:45am: The homicide victim has been identified as 25 year-old Alexis Colon of Oceanside
Oceanside CA— Late last night, June 7, 2021 at approximately 10:41 p.m., Officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1400 block of Higgins Street.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 25 year-old Hispanic male lying in the street. Paramedics from the Oceanside Fire Department also arrived on scene and began rendering medical aid to the Victim. The Victim was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Crimes of Violence unit responded to the scene to take over this investigation. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and no further details are being released at this time. The Victim’s identity is being withheld until his next of kin can be contacted.
