Oceanside CA— Late last night, June 29, 2021, just after 11:00pm, units from the Oceanside Fire Department responded for multiple reports of a vehicle on fire in the garage of a neighboring residence in the 4700 block of Mayflower Way.
At 11:17pm, Engine 215(E215) arrived on scene of the dispatched address and confirmed a two-story single-family residence with heavy smoke and flames throughout the structure. Following an initial report on conditions, E215 obtained their own water supply and pulled hose lines for a primary search of the structure and interior attack on the fire. The officer from E215 was able to assign subsequent units to support the plan of fighting the fire prior to passing command over to the Battalion Chief(B217).
When initial units had arrived on scene, the home was fully involved and engulfed in smoke and flames. Flames were blowing out the windows of the front and rear of both the first and second floors of the residence. A large concern for fire crews was the size of the fire and the close proximity of the neighboring homes. Despite this challenging situation, crews were able to contain the fire to the building of origin with minimal damage to adjacent structures.
The fire was considered under control approximately twenty minutes after initial units arrived on scene.
All of the residents of the home were able to self-evacuate prior to the arrival of the fire department.
No firefighters or residents were injured during this incident.
Mutual Aid was provided by North County and Vista Fire Departments.
The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation by an Oceanside Fire Department Duty Investigator.
