Oceanside CA – Last last night, Thursday, July 15, 2021, at approximately 11:30 pm, the Oceanside Police Department responded to calls of a bicyclist laying in the eastbound lane of Oceanside Blvd. A reporting party advised the bicyclist was neither moving nor breathing.
Witnesses reported an unknown dark colored vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Oceanside Blvd under the I-5. Oceanside officers were on scene within minutes.
The unidentified male cyclist sustained major head trauma. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
The investigation is still ongoing. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
