Vista CA— Saturday afternoon,, July 24, 2021, approximately 1:34pm, Sheriff’s Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Vista Station, Traffic Division, and Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a serious injury vehicle collision in the 1000 block of Vale Terrace Drive, city of Vista.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a white Mazda sedan driving eastbound on Vale Terrace Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided head on with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the white Mazda sedan, a 44-year-old male, was transported to Palomar Medical Center via ambulance. Despite medical intervention, his death was pronounced on July 24, 2021. The front passenger of the white Mazda sedan, a 44-year-old female, was transported to Palomar Medical Center via ambulance and is in serious condition.
The driver of the black Chevrolet Silverado, a 77-year-old male, was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla via ambulance for serious, not life-threatening injuries. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
Fatal Hit and Run
Later on Saturday night at approximately 11:11pm Sheriff’s Deputies along with Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a person down in the roadway at the intersection of East Vista Way and Arcadia Avenue, city of Vista.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a white Lexus sedan, possibly an IS300, was driving southbound on East Vista Way and collided with a pedestrian crossing westbound East Vista Way. Immediately after the collision, the white Lexus sedan fled northbound on East Vista Way towards Fallbrook and has not been located.
The unidentified male was transported to Palomar Medical Center via ambulance. Despite medical intervention, his death was pronounced early this morning, July 25, 2021 just after midnight.
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision.
The Vista Traffic Division is handling both investigations.
