Vista CA— Wednesday afternoon, November 10, 2021, at approximately 4:03 PM, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call of an unknown injury collision in front of Primo’s Food Market located 1535 W. Vista Way in the city of Vista. When Vista Traffic Deputies arrived on scene with Vista Fire Department personnel, they observed a silver Mazda 6 sedan in the westbound lanes of W. Vista Way wedged into the rear of an EDCO trash truck.
Deputies observed a deceased male in the passenger seat of the Mazda with injuries believed to be caused from the collision. Deputies attempted to locate the driver of the Mazda on scene, but were unsuccessful. During the preliminary investigation, the registered owner of the vehicle was identified and Deputies attempted to contact the owner at their recorded address with no success.
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
