Oceanside CA— On Sunday, December 26, 2021, at approximately 5:27 pm, officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a medical emergency call at the 100 block of Ely Street.
Officers arrived on scene where Oceanside Fire Department personnel attempted life saving measures to aid a male adult gunshot victim. The victim, identified as twenty-year-old Samuel Pina was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, Oceanside Police Department officers in the area spotted a vehicle thought to be connected to the incident. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. A brief pursuit ensued and ended when the suspect collided with another vehicle. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect, twenty-three-year-old, Adrian Pina without further incident.
The suspect, Adrian Pina was booked at the Vista Detention Facility for suspicion of murder.
Detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit responded to the scene to take the lead on this investigation. This case remains an active and on-going homicide investigation.
