A church demolition, apartment developments and an animal clinic are three items that Vista’s Planning Commission will tackle during a public hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. April 4.

On the agenda is the demolition of the current site of New Community Church at 165 Eucalyptus Ave. to make way for a four-story, 176-unit apartment complex that will include a multistory parking garage, according to a Vista city notice.

The project, called Park Avenue Apartments and proposed by LLJ Cross Park LLC, would not result in major effects to traffic or noise, or air and water quality, the states in its notice.

New Community Church has occupied the site since at least the late 2000s. The property was put up for sale in 2021.

The Planning Commission is also expected to hear comments on early designs for a 20-unit apartment complex proposed by Amir Sheikh at 347 W. Los Angeles Drive. The complex would have one building with subterranean parking and include two very-low-income units, according to the city.

A Special Use Permit will also be considered for Anthony Carchedi to establish a small animal clinic at 2395 S. Melrose Drive.

The Planning Commission will hold the public hearing on Tuesday, April 4, at 6 p.m. in the Vista Civic Center Council Chambers, 200 Civic Center Drive.
