Oceanside 2.0: More Ways to Unplug and Reboot at San Diego’s North Shore

New Art Walk, Dining Options and Exciting Events Raise the Bar For Fall Fun

Oceanside CA– Fall is a wonderful time to relax and recharge with an escape to Oceanside, San Diego’s North Shore. Couples, families and groups of friends can leave their tech devices behind and “go social” and “connect” with each other through a variety of Oceanside experiences. Here’s the latest:

“Link In” to Oceanside’s Art Scene at the New Oceanside Art Walk

On the first Friday of each month from 6-9 p.m., visitors can enjoyartwalk Oceanside’s newest offering: First Friday, Oceanside Art Walk. Developed by the Oceanside Cultural Consortium (OCC), the new monthly program showcases Oceanside’s vibrant art community through live performances, music, poetry, art education, culinary demonstrations and art galleries embedded in local businesses and public spaces. Businesses and available spaces throughout downtown and along the coast are host to these “art showcases,” which are free and open to the public. More information and maps can also be found at www.oceansideartwalk.org.

“Power-Up” at Oceanside’s Newest Dining Experiences

oceanside_broiler_osidenewsOceanside is bursting with new options for fueling up before or after a day of sun, sand and fun. Following a $1 million investment, Oceanside Broiler recently opened at the harbor and serves up savory steaks, fresh seafood, sushi, tasty salads and cool libations. The Stratford at the Harbor, another new waterfront eatery at the harbor, offers breakfast and lunch with a surfer’s twist. Masters Kitchen and Cocktail is taking the dining scene by storm with its modern, loft-style ambience and selection of artisan foods, as well as craft cocktails and beers. Adding to the burgeoning restaurant scene in downtown is That Boy Good, a barbecue eatery that is quickly earning a stellar reputation and faithful followers who can’t get enough of the Southern-style barbecue and the bluesy juke joint atmosphere.

“Tag”… and Other Fun and Games

Fall is full of interesting events in Oceanside. The annual Oceanside Harbor Days takes place Sep. 27-28, 2014 and features arts and craft exhibits, live music, a sand castle competition, fooddia_de_los_muertos18a_osidenews court, beer garden, beauty pageant, nail and sail competition, Tiki Swim, military vehicle display and more great fun for the entire family. Mission San Luis Rey comes alive with entertainment, food and cultural artisans on October 26 at the annual Dia Del Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival, which is the largest of its kind in San Diego County. For those who prefer a bit more exercise, fall brings a number of athletic events to the city that are open to both beginning and experienced athletes. Events include the Annual Labor Day Pier Swim (September 1), Life Time Tri Oceanside (October 26), Bike the Coast-Taste the Coast (November 1) and the O’side Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

Visit the “Cloud” on a Skydive or Biplane Adventure

Thrill seekers can visit the clouds for a bird’s eye view of Oceanside and the Southern California coastline through two unique Oceanside experiences: skydiving and biplane rides. Tsunami Skydivers operates out of Oceanside Municipal Airport and offers the only coastal skydiving in the region. Catering to both first-time and experienced divers, participants go to 13,000 feet for a one-of-a-kind, breathtaking aerial view of the coast. Also operating out of Oceanside Municipal Airport is Coastal Aero Scenic, which offers breathtaking tours of the coast in a vintage 1941 restored Waco Biplane.
