Carlsbad CA— Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort is catering to the “adventurist” in everyone with creative programing and activities that capture the essence of laidback, luxurious living in San Diego’s North County coastal community. Three new opportunities for exploration – Beachside Picnics, Lagoon Adventures and Selfie Scavenger Hunts – have amped up the fun at this beachfront basecamp for Southern California adventure and give a whole new meaning to “escape” at the Cape.
“Cape Rey is the perfect home base for guests who want to explore the rich natural resources, unique outdoor activities and sought-after beach lifestyle of our Carlsbad and coastal communities,” says Allyson Evers, Cape Rey’s “Director of Adventure,” also known as the concierge. “Through these signature offerings, guests experience the best of the resort and a what it’s like to live the SoCal beach lifestyle.”
Beachside Picnics
Causal beach picnics are a staple of SoCal coastal living, and Cape Rey delivers the experience in style. Easy and delicious, Cape Rey’s Beachside Picnics start with the basics: handcrafted sandwiches for adults and kids, seasonal side dishes, chips, homemade cookies and a beverage. Picnics are packaged in an insulated tote for easy transportation to the beach located just 150 steps from the hotel. For an additional fee, guests can add a beach pack that includes chairs and an umbrella, or work with Cape Rey’s creative concierge team to design more customized and elaborate beach dining experiences. Cape Rey staff can create the perfect setting for proposals, birthdays or other special occasions with fun additions such as coastal décor, beach games or after-dark bonfires.
Carlsbad Lagoon Adventures
Carlsbad Lagoon, a unique coastal wetlands and popular playground for locals and visitors, provides the perfect setting for an excursion on paddleboard, kayak or sea bike. Cape Rey’s new Lagoon Adventures program includes discounts on a variety of watercraft rentals, as well as shuttle transportation to and from the lagoon. The calm coastal waters are ideal for beginners and children just getting their “sea legs.” More experienced watermen and fitness buffs can enjoy a brisk workout and explore the 400-acre watershed for a glimpse of rare migrating seabirds and marine life, such as the mullet fish that often thrill visitors by jumping out of the water.
Selfie Scavenger Hunts
Adventure goes high tech with Cape Rey’s Selfie Scavenger Hunt. Families, couples or groups of friends can work to solve creative riddles that take them to locations around the property to find hidden Cape Rey logos. Participants snap a selfie at each location and then post to their favorite social site. The prize for such hard work? A special mini sundae. If the day calls for a bigger sugar rush, Bill’s Revenge, named for the resort owner’s wicked sweet tooth, includes a decadent flourless chocolate brownie, chocolate espresso cookie, housemade vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, chocolate sauce and honey roasted peanuts. Talk about the ultimate brownie sundae!
