Oceanside CA- The new NCTD Transit center is open for business near the corner of Vandegrift Boulevard and North River Road in Northeast Oceanside. The new 12 bay transit center is replacing the interim center at Highway 76 and College Rd in the Town Center North Shopping Center.
The project was a collaboration of the North County Transit District (NCTD) and The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) providing access to five local and regional bus services. The new center has four covered shelters, restrooms and is 30 minutes away from both the Oceanside and Vista Transit Centers.
Congress appropriated 1.85 million dollars in Federal Transit Administration Funds including 1.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. NCTD and other local sources provided an additional $850,000.
North County Transit District service changes which take effect today, February 2 and adds weekend service to several BREEZE bus routes The San Luis Rey Transit Center serves BREEZE routes 303, 309, 311, 313, and 315. All routes serving the new facility will have route and schedule changes. Passengers may find detailed information at GoNCTD.com or in the new Rider’s Guide which is available now for download and at customer service centers and on board BREEZE buses.
The new center is one of the major features of this final phase of the Mobility Plan, which was launched in 2012 to improve inter-connectivity between transit modes, is weekend service to BREEZE routes 304/347 between Encinitas and San Marcos and routes 355/357 serving El Norte Pkwy. and Valley Pkwy.
